No man will ever know the price a woman carries. Being a woman is not a matter of understanding, but of living. Every day we feel fear – fear, and more fear.
Fear of our clothes, our hair, our shoes, the way we behave and what people will think the moment we step outside the house. And that is when the fear does not often come from within our own home.
It was with this in mind – and, above all, with three women who marked my life with their pain and rebirth – that I created this book. A tribute to them and to all those who came before and will come after. These are stories about women, their struggles and resilience across three generations. Stories that, for the most part, are based on real events, because the truth of being a woman is always more intense than any fiction.
